Crappest ever summer coming up
« on: May 10, 2017, 11:31:40 PM »
No World Cup.

No European Championships.

No Olympics.

No Ashes series.

All we have coming up are the annual events and a British Lions tour to Australia (is it?).

<sigh>

Champions trophy cricket...the odi bash...if you are into that.

Lions tour should be good(although I would have preferred an English tour to NZ)

Just chillax, have some beer and do some gardening instead :)

The first two are a source of gnashing of teeth at yet more abject under-performing failure.  How OLD do you have to be to remember England winning the world cup?  In the next 20 years, they'll become as rare as WW2 veterans.   All the reasonably sized footballing nations in Europe have won the European Championships except England.

Not really fussed about Cricket but I thought we were doing historically quite well at the current time.

I bet most on this forum are not exactly 'spring chickens' but I'd say that only one or two were alive when England won the World Cup.

I was alive but too young to know anything about 1966.

Old enough to remember seeing some of the players on TV and I actually saw Bobby Moore (for Fulham) and Bobby Charlton (PNE) play in their dotage.
