Dirk Gently
« on: May 03, 2017, 11:03:30 PM »
There's a re-make of Dirk Gently (i.e. not the one with Stephen Mangan in it) on Netflix.

It's totally insane.

I'm only 2 episodes in but I love it to bits.

Recommended.

I guess it must be.

It has Orlando Bloom in it so it is a proper high budget production.

:) I won't do spoilers but it is very good

far enough away from the original not to upset the fans (yes I'm one) of the original books (unlike the BBC show with Mangan)

I've watched it all now.

Completely preposterous, totally barking mad and inspired by genius from top to bottom.

It's like a fractured dream fuelled by a huge adrenalin rush.

Not at all like anything else I have ever seen but it has elements of The Avengers (the Steed and co thing), Twin Peaks and The Prisoner where anything is possible, everything is sinister and you never really know what the hell is going on but it all makes a kind of sense in the end.

If you have Netflix then watch it as soon as you can.

Best thing I've seen in years.

Douglas Adams would have loved it.

I really do think he would have.
