My most memorable, not that I can remember much about it was being up and close with these folks (back of Union Street Barbar).

Probably about 1985 too :)

Ziggy's on Bath Street?

It had a few different names over the years.

I saw a few bands there but the only one I recall by name right now was The Vibrators who I saw on Live Aid night.

I think you are right there Barbar, take a left as you could back then all the arched garages to the left, then a small nightclub to the right. :)

You saw the Vibrators there? When you didn't invite me :(

I think you were up in Oxford at the time.

If you can remember where you watched Live Aid then that'll be where you were that night.

Must have been. Didn't have a tv up there for a while and didn't watch the live aid.

Live Aid was 13th July 1985.

I got a lift back to Plymouth from College in a green Saab 900 which had a minor breakdown on the way and we had to wait for the AA. While we killed time we listened to some of it on the radio.

Must have been the end of Spring term. Can't think why I'd've been making that journey on that day otherwise.

Damned certain you'd've been in the picture around that time. Probably just didn't get our collective shits together.

It was all different back then... no mobile phones, no  internet... How did we ever manage to get anything sorted? LOL.

I can't work it out. Al has got me all flustered now :D
I graduated summer 1987.
I would have been in Oxford I think.
Summer 85 end of first year, 86 second year, 87 third year.
I was immersed in the degree and Leisa, remember her?
Should have married that lady. :,(

Little Fluffy Clouds and Black Hole Sun?

Sound Garden??

The Orb did play Little Fluffy Clouds. Although it's one of those tunes I've 'heard too much' they did do a seriously good version, although the hi-light of the evening for me was 'Plateau'

The whole thing made me want to do acid again. Won't happen these days though. My head would explode Scanners style..  :o

Last gig I went to: Toyah.

Just back actually.

I went a cynic and returned a convert. She was brilliant. Triumphant even.

She still looks good too.

That's any cred I might have acquired around here blown to smithereens.

Toyah is a legend. She made some great music. Glad to hear she's still got it.

Back in the day people judged her too much on her appearance and not the quality of the songs. I wanna be free and Thunder in the mountains were excellent powerful tunes with kicking back beats. Her drummer at the time also played in the heavy metal band Saxon. Not a great band I guess, but he had the 'power' and the technical skill - as many metal drummers do - to give her tunes a real pulse.

Saxon are still going and I know someone who saw them headlining at a small metalfest in Wales only 3 days ago!

They were/still are pretty good, so he says, if you were/still are in to that sort of stuff. I don't think their drummer is still T's drummer though because he was far younger than he would probably need to be!

Her band was pretty hot though with a middle aged fat bloke on keys giving it beans, an Oriental guitarist and a non-descript youngish drummer. Mind you she is Mrs Fripp and so she must be surrounded by hot musicians on a regular basis so it is hard to imagine that her current band would be anything other than pretty decent.

Herself was the star though and she was amazing.
