You have my sympathies. :)

I don't think women get hi-fi full stop. They see it as male ego. So long as they can chirp along to the radio in the car that's good enough.
Then when they come to listen to some music on something other than rudimentary they say reluctantly "that sounds nice".
Well this has been my experience to date. :)

I think you may be right.

Mrs B plays CDs far more than I do and will often have one on when she is ironing. (How we assign tasks between us does not fit "normal" gender protocols despite how it may seem from this) and often uses the small TV's inbuilt DVD player. Which is fine but she cranks it up a bit and the speakers just aren't (wo)man enough and it sounds awful. I can't bear to hear it like that but get told off if I turn it down ("you play your music loud!" - and she is right, I do) but she just doesn't hear music the way I do.

I'm lucky in this regards.  Mrs Tequila_Nic understands why I have the passion I do for music and high end gear (whist occasionally bulking when a new bit of kit turns up).

But still she'll listen to music off the TV on the TV (it is connected ot the amp) and the big speakers will sit there looking pretty.

I think if she has an issue it's with the remotes :)
