Twitter has ruined itself......

The voice of reason?

I personally think...it is a unique talent to use 140 and to express yourself in that concise method. We could all expand and write essays.....

Nice one JKR !!!

Destroys creativeness.

Have you seen Sven trying to express himself here?  ;)

Twitter's USP has always been its brevity.

When scrolling through a load of tweets it is fair to say that many of them are or of little interest. A quick glance at them and you move on. Doubling the length of Tweets makes this far harder.

Another aspect to this is that if you can't make your point in 140 characters then you probably can't in 280 either - Twitter has never been a place for deep analysis after all and 280 characters makes little difference.

Just the boost Google+ has been looking for, I reckon.

I do actually agree. However it is not evidence that shorter sentences and statements demonstrate a full and complex understanding of a subject.

I did.

Its just brief assesments and the occasionall funny lines. I prefer to gain deeper understanding, not just soundbite and headline.

I am on twitter, have been for a long time but only got 353 followers & follow 562. Find it too truncated, dumned down & also a bit fast paced to spend much time on.
