Stephen Hawking loses his mind
« on: November 10, 2017, 01:26:39 PM »
The end of the world is upon us!

Well, in around 600 years, claims the esteemed physicist. Hawking claims that the Earth will be consumed in a ball of fire due to overcrowding and over consumption of energy, and mankind needs to find a way of travelling to the stars the escape the fiery hell.

He is probably going a bit doo-lally.

Not really surprising, motor neurone disease looks quite traumatic.

The Starshot thing is interesting, if fanciful sounding...

My bet would go on earth still being habitable in 600 years first... great if they could do it though. Even if earth became atmospherically unsuitable for life... we've reached a technological advancement where the species could survive that, albeit with a much reduced population size.

I presume he's taking current population and energy consumption trends and based on those he is probably right but things won't pan out like that.  Bilderberg will have culled billions by then!
