Most Pointless Vegetable?
« on: September 04, 2017, 07:21:42 PM »
Has to be cauliflower, surely?

Doesn't taste of much, unpleasant texture unless you cook it to mush (and even then it ain't great) and isn't even green. Next to no nutritional value. Utterly pointless.

I swear to God we only buy them to feed the leaves to our guinea pigs. Can't think of any other reason.

Haha so this is where your deep routed psychological hatred of guinea pigs comes from?
You cannot come to terms with the fact they are far more adorable than you and just invite to be cuddled and smoothed and they manage to do this on a diet of cauliflower leaves? ;)  Don't be so jealous, you are showing psychotic tendencies Barbar. :D

In your next life you may come back as a tribble so try not be so harsh ;)

There's some things you use to add to other things because the first things are nice and the second things are crap.

Everything tastes better with cheese on it. Everything tastes better with butter on it. Everything tastes better with bacon. Everything tastes better with garlic on it.

(Not literally everything before some pedant comes along and says "what about.... you don't have.... with that, do you?")

Cauliflower cheese is a fine dish but the best way to improve it would be to leave the cauliflower out and replace with some garlic and bacon.

Macaroni cheese likewise. Pasta is rubbish. The stuff that goes with pasta is often very tasty but things with garlic, bitter, bacon and cheese usually are!

Swede. There's another. A complete pain to prepare, you have to boil it for hours before you can eat it and even then you have to mash it and smother with butter and pepper (another thing that makes boring crap taste good - as is salt, chilli and all the other herbs and spices).

Can't have a pasty without swede though so it ain't all bad.

Unlike cauliflower.

Sprouts.

They're bloody hard work too. At least they taste of something and if smothered with butter and served with bacon or a cheese sauce they ain't too bad.

A decent source of nutrition and good for comedy value due to the fart factor, though.

Don't much like 'em but they ain't all bad.

Carrots? They're OK when cooked and grated carrot in stuff I can tolerate.

Raw carrot sticks? Fuck off.

Cabbage is cack too. That's why it is pickled so often or turned into coleslaw.

Best thing to with cabbage is feed it to guinea pigs but if you have to eat it then fried with bacon, onion and garlic and then dressed with cream is the way to go.

Lettuce. WHAT IS THE POINT OF LETTUCE?

It even gives guinea pigs the shits if they eat too much of it.

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.

Wisdom is knowing to leave it out of a fruit salad.

Well pages like this rave about cauliflower:

https://draxe.com/cauliflower/

I might go for potato... good for energy but compares poorly to other energy staples like flour and oats in protein.

Yep! Cauliflower is a clear contender for the most pointless. It's like eating water, and slightly dirty water at that. I don't believe anyone eats it for pleasure.

The best way to enjoy most vegetables is in a curry. Boiled and steamed veg is generally pretty disgusting. I get my five a day + but I regard it as taking dietry supplements, not actually eating food.
