Wonderful Place Names
« on: July 03, 2017, 11:30:10 AM »
One thing we are blessed with in the UK is an almost infinite variety of place names and some of them are almost poetic.

Here's 4 of mine to get things going:

Praze-an-Beeble
Compton Pauncefoot
Ecclefechan
Little Snoring

Which ones do you like?

Puckeridge in Hertfordshire.

Little Hadham and Much Hadham, again, in Hertfordshire.

Upton Snodsbury in Worcestershire.

North Piddle in Worcestershire.

Didling in West Sussex.

These are places I have driven past, liked the names so much that they stuck in my head.

Not far across the border into SE Cornwall there's two roadsigns each pointing to two different villages each of which combine to sound like a girl's name:

Amy Tree

Bethany Menhenniott
