The Handmaid's Tale - C4
« on: June 17, 2017, 10:11:25 PM »
Been meaning to catch up with this for several weeks after reading very good reviews so watched the first three episodes today.  I was put off by the film of the book, that was quite poor, to my recollection.  The TV series is well acted and perhaps gives more time to flesh out totalitarian theocracy detailed in Margaret Atwood's book.  I've not read the book so don't know how faithful to the book the TV series is but as the book came out in the mid to late 80s it's good that it's been contemporised (if that's a word) and Atwood is an consultant on the series.

Often not pleasant viewing but compelling viewing.
